Battery Technology Case Study
TC was approached by a major battery storage manufacturer to fabricate parts used in their battery energy storage system (BESS). The manufacturer was developing a prototype system and was asking for our input into the design process for the busbars that connect the individual 300Ah battery cells as well as the jump leads that connect the battery units. The cell modules are designed to operate at over 1000V.
The busbars were far from standard - with some being made from laminated copper layers - a design that reduces both skin effect and noise produced by the inverter. The jump leads between the battery modules come complete with bespoke cable lugs at each end to allow for easy connection. Once again, Total Connections was involved from the start of the design process to produce essential components for this manufacturer.
