Electrical Standoff Insulators

Description

Standoff insulators are most often used to insulate switchgear and are a familiar feature of earth bars. They are designed to separate conductors from their mounting and are available in a range of sizes.

The insulators are available with galvanised mild steel threads, which are protected by the red DMC (dough moulded compound) resin plastic drum (UL94 V-0 - Halogen Free) with BZP threaded inserts. The clearance between mounting and conductor is achieved by the height of the drum, which is supplied in either 35mm or 50mm.

The galvanised mild steel threads range from M6 to M12, with thread depths ranging from 9mm to 17mm. They are suitable for voltages from 300V up to 3.5kV.

Total Connections also supply stainless steel insulators with an M10 thread at a depth of 17mm which are suitable for up to 2kV (AC) or 2.8kV (DC). The stainless steel insulator is more appropriate for harsher environments due to its resistance to corrosion.
