Medical Case Study

We were approached by Siemens Medical (now Siemens Healthineers) to design a lug for their MRI scanners. The standard lug for a 120mmsq cable entry has a width of 27mm, which was too wide for the available space. The challenge was to design a lug with a maximum width of 23mm and designed to accommodate M6 stud holes.

The solution was to machine down the palms and then braze the palms to ensure the palm's structural integrity. Total Connections then produced a run of 50 prototypes for testing and upon acceptance, we began regular production runs to suit their manufacturing programme.

In the past decade, we have manufactured over 200,000 of these high quality bespoke lugs without a single return, thereby supporting the essential high quality demanded by a market-leading medical device company.
