About Our Connector Manufacturing Capabilities
Total Connections has invested heavily in new capabilities in 2020. The company has installed a range of automated processes that increases capability and capacity across its product range. Many of these machines are related to switchgear products, including busbars and earth bars.
Our latest additions to our capabilities includes the following machines.
CNC Bar Puncher
This CNC bar punching machine is designed to automate our busbar and earth bar manufacturing. It can automatically load 15mm thick copper bar, feed it through to the interchangeable CNC tool heads and conveyor the cropped and punched product onto a collection tray. It is capable of dealing with copper bar between 16mm to 200mm wide and 3mm to 15mm thick. It can manufacture busbars up to 3.5m long.
CNC Folding & Bending Machine
This CNC folding and bending machine is designed to deliver up to 50kN. It is used to provide fast and accurate bending and folding of earth bar bases. Together with the bar punching machine, Total Connections has updated its earth bar manufacturing capabilities.
Clinch-fastening Inserter
We have a new press-stud/clinch-fastening inserter. It is capable of inserting studs up to M14, with a force range from 4kN up to 72kN. It contributes to the manufacture of a range of Total Connections' products.
Pull-Testing Machine
The Tinius Olsen 50ST is a tension and shear-testing machine designed to test the mechanical strength of cable assemblies. It is capable of applying a tensile force up to 25kN and can be used with any size of cable. In essence, it can be used to test the joint efficacy of crimping tools and terminals - in line with BS EN 61238. As well as internal quality testing, it is available for external testing of cable assemblies for Total Connections' customers.
Other Capabilities
Total Connections has a wide range of machines used in the manufacture of its range of standard and bespoke terminals - as well as the rest of its product range. These include:
- Hydraulic forming and punching presses - offering between 5t and 50t
- Mechanical forming and punching presses - offering between 50t and 180t
- Vibratory finishing/de-burring machine
