Telecom 2-hole terminals

What are Telecom 2-hole terminals?

Telecom 2-hole terminals are a type of lug that have two holes for attaching them to a stud or busbar. In the UK we know them as Post Office Issue (POI) 2-hole lugs. Originally the General Post Office used them, who were the state telecoms carrier at the time. The two holes constrain the lug’s rotation and reduce the chance of it vibrating loose.

Like most of our terminals, we supply them in tin plated copper. The standard terminal centres are 45mm with M12 stud clearance. We can customise them with different stud clearances and hole centres on request. They come in various sizes, shapes and finishes – right angle, narrow palm, long palm, tin or silver plated, etc. You can find details of our full range here.

What type of projects are they used on?

2-hole terminals are used for telecom networks, where they can connect copper wires to distribution frames or cabinets. They are also suitable for connecting cables in high voltage applications, such as power substations, switchgear, transformers, etc. and can handle up to 33KV of voltage, providing a reliable and secure connection. They offer a high level of conductivity, durability and safety.
